***BUZZZT, HISSS, WHHRRRR***
Lighting cracks, the wind wails and the calmness of this night is completely disrupted as what appears to be nothing more than a small confined electrical storm appears in the middle of an old mall parking lot... that’s all. As what appears to be a small black hole in the fabric of space and time begins to form and grow every street light in a three block radius suddenly bursts and sends the scene into total darkness minus the moon light beaming in, which shows two figures stepping from the “black hole” both stumble forward, weak and trying to catch their balance where we can see the figure of a man and a woman, but they are slumped over to the point we cant’ see their faces, when the female speaks.
“Where are we?”
She lifts her head and looks around, obviously confused at her surroundings the camera pans in as she takes a deep breath in total shock at something she sees off camera and we fade out.
The night of NCW’s closing, The Knites, Foxes and several groups of close friends have a giant party at a restaurant in Dallas, Texas. They celebrate the closing of a great federation together and just talk and have fun with each other. Zelda has the NCW World title on her shoulder and everybody is giving her pats on the back and she is giving them a huge smile in return, obviously trying not to tear up. Curtis Kanyon acts like he’s going to “Bang” her, and Xavier Cross has the smug look of arrogance of somebody who already has. Adam walks up and wraps his arms around her and squeezes her, almost draining the air from her lungs as she smiles.
“I can’t believe it. My little sister, NCW World Champion. That was... amazing. I’m so proud of you.”
Zelda chokes back the tears... wait no she doesn’t. She has to wipe a couple away before she can compose herself and respond.
“Thank you... it’s the... it’s the greatest moment of my life and I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you. Thank you so much.”
Even Adam, the giant of a man who has fought in some of the toughest matches in wrestling history begins to tear up as he and his sister hug again, so obviously the water works are pouring down for Zelda. This touching moment however comes to an end as far as this promo is concerned because the camera begins to pull out and from a distance of across the street we can see a young woman with an older man eating at a restaurant, which wouldn’t be anything special if not for the fact that one of them, the younger girl, is intently staring through the windows at the party and smiling from ear to ear.
“Ryleigh? Ry? Ryles? Leigh? HEY RYLEIGH!?”
“Huh? What?”
She spins her head around, but that’s about the extent of her reaction as she quickly turns back to see the celebration again.
“You going to order or not? They have crab bisque. I believe they even have sauteed monkey brains, your favorite.”
“Yeah sure whatever.”
The man waves the waitress away for a minute so that he can possibly get some more information out of Ryleigh. He looks over at her and follows her eyes and then looks to the see the party going on, before he turns back and smiles at the thought of what she’s smiling about.
“What is going on over there? You’ve been spaced out, staring out that window since we got here.”
“Today’s the day that Aunt Zelda won the NCW World title.”
“*groans* Oh joy, I needed that memory.”
“Shut up. It’s the day where I first said I wanted to be a professional wrestler. Seeing everybody surrounding Zelda and seeing how happy she and my dad was. Even though I’ve forgotten most of it until now, I can still remember the smiles on their faces, they were so happy that day.... err.. Today now.”
“So that’s why you insisted on eating here... but haven’t bothered to even look at your menu.”
“This is one of the other reasons why I wanted to take this trip, to be here again.”
Ryleigh turns and blushes slightly at the older man before she grabs a menu and finally decides that she’s going to look at it. She puts it down however, very shortly afterwards as she turns her head and again begins to start staring out the window. Her head droops slightly as she begins to look sad.
“Now... we may not make it back.”
“Well make it back Ryleigh, and we’ll also take care of that other thing... I swear.”
“You can’t promise me that Uncle Trent. Just look at these things.”
Ryleigh holds up a her right arm and puts it on the table, showing him the device on her wrist, that would resemble a watch if it wasn’t so large and tear shaped. The device, doesn’t seem to be functioning except for the actual watch that adorns the end closest to Ryleigh’s wrist.
“Nobody in this time period is smart enough to fix this.”
“I’m doing some research, we’ll find somebody who can help us eventually. You can’t give up hope girl.”
“Yeah and until then what are we going to do about food, clothes, shelter that kinda stuff. We’re lucky that we even have enough money for a meal right now with our rations and money quickly depleting. What are we going to do?”
“Well I’ve been thinking about that actually...”
“Yeah?”
Future Trent slides Ryleigh a slip of paper across the table and as Ryleigh takes a gander we do as well and see the giant CPW promotion logo on the front. She looks up at Trent and cocks an eyebrow in surprise. She looks back down at the flier in her hand, and then back up at Trent like he’s certainly crazy.
“You have to be kidding me.”
“I’ve already got you signed up.. you have a tryout match coming up very soon. See, don’t worry about it, good old Uncle Trent has everything taken care of.”
“You’d better... we wouldn’t be stuck if it wasn’t for you.”
“How many times do I have to tell you that I’m sorry, but it was a good idea in theory.”
“You wanted to hand feed a T-Rex!”
“I said ‘in theory’”
Ryleigh rolls her eyes at her Uncle Trent as the waitress comes back to the table to take their orders and their conversation about Time Travel is immediately silence. We fade to black when, after finally placing her order, Ryleigh grabs the flair again and stares at it apprehensively.
