The hollering, the screaming, the whining, bitching and complaining…at least it got your attention, right? I thought it would, Roxi.
Roxi Johnson, this Sunday at Picture Perfect, you will have my undivided attention.
They do everything big in Texas. And you can say the same for this match. We’re heading on a collision course and we managed to pretty much eliminate the obstacles in our way. Of course, I’ve had the easiest time of it, thanks to CPW management, but you know what they say: what kills you may you stronger.
And I like to play to my strengths.
I find it funny that the name of this pay-per-view is called "Picture Perfect", because, well, unless my memory has failed me, I seem to remember wrestling on a similarly named show in the last placed I worked for. Did I also mention that I'm undefeated at said pay-per-view? I didn't? Well, it bears repeating. I'm undefeated, Roxi. two-and-oh.
Sure, CPW is a lot different from NCW, despite the fact that the majority of the roster migrated from there, but nonetheless, I think it's great that management decided to pay tribute to one of NCW's popular shows. But, anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself.
Roxi, what this really comes down to is a match that you know you can't win. You know I can beat you. I know I can beat you. Maria Salvatore knows I can beat you. But most of all...
Keira Fisher knows I can beat you.
Deep down, she knows that your title reign is coming to an end, but she won't tell you that to your face. She may be blonde, but she wouldn't be that stupid. She doesn't have the gumption to tell you, because you mean the world to her. What do you think would happen if you heard those words and you proved her right? Would that bond still be unbreakable, or would there be crack in the foundation? Would you ever trust each other again?
Would she have to find a new place to live?
There seems to be a lot more questions than answers.
I hope you know what to answer when the times comes.
«The scene opens up on Mercedes Vargas watching television in the living room of her apartment. She stares intently on what she’s watching, a highlight reel of Roxi Johnson’s few matches so far in CPW, with particular interest in her singles matches. By no means were these the best she could do, judging from the competition, but it’s fair to say that the only matches Roxi had a real tough time were against two individuals.
The person she lost to at Undisputed, Zelda Knite.
And the person Roxi would be facing at Picture Perfect, Mercedes Vargas herself.»
Jorge: Let's get this show on the road.
Jorge enters, knocking back a can of Pepsi while tossing up his car keys. When he looks at the television and what Mercedes was watching, the can of soda nearly drops from him.
Jorge: Whoa, who is that?
Mercedes: That would be my opponent I’m facing on Sunday for her title.
Jorge: Is she seeing anybody?
Mercedes: Do I look like a dating service to you? No, she’s taken.
«Jorge catches the tail end of Roxi's victory over Keira at CPW TV 7. He stands there mesmerized seeing Roxi and Keira sharing a kiss in the ring. Mercedes sees this as and quickly slaps him upside the head, which seems to snaps him out of it.»
Jorge: OW! What was that for?
Mercedes: Come on, I’m going to be late. And the house-sitter should be here any second.
«Mercedes clicks off the television. The apartment buzzer goes off. Mercedes presses the first button, then speaks to the intercom.»
Mercedes: Can I help you?
«A woman’s voice is heard outside the door.»
Woman: I’m here to see the apartment.
Mercedes: Excuse me?
Woman: I’m here to look at the apartment.
«Mercedes presses a second button, and then opens the door. Leah Green is a beautiful energetic woman a few years younger than Mercedes with a charming personality. She starts to look around the apartment.»
Mercedes: OK (picking up a contract from off the table) So, here is the contract we agreed on, and what you can expect to pay for rent.
Woman: OK. Anything else I need to know about the place?
Mercedes: I'm glad you ask as they are some ground rules. The fridge.
«Mercedes opens the fridge and uses her folded reading glasses and points at each compartment.»
Mercedes: Meat, dairy, leftovers…never leave those past seven days of the expiration date. Oh, and all food must be covered. (walks over to the balcony) Plants have to be watered every morning, and if you decide to talk on your cellphone, do it between the peak hours of seven and nine.
«Leah has a confused expression.»
Woman: Why is that?
Mercedes: Mrs. Chen is a morning lark and really hates it when she can't get her beauty rest.
Woman: OK, gotcha.
Mercedes: Oh, and one more thing.
«Mercedes stands behind the armchair, placing a hand on the top part of it.»
Mercedes: The armchair and sofa? No food must touch these delicate fabrics. Ever. And trust me, I will find out. I have a sixth sense about these things.
Woman: Where do I get to sleep?
Mercedes: Couch is off limits, but you can use the floor.
Woman: Why the floor?
Mercedes: It's good for your back to lie on the floor.
Jorge: We done here? We've got to get to the airport.
«Mercedes grabs her bag, prepared to leave.»
Mercedes: If there are any packages for me, make sure to leave them with the doorman in the lobby. Sorry, can't stay. I have to get to Dallas for a show I'm in.
Woman: Right, the pro wrestling thing. Saw that in the want ad you posted. Well, good luck.
«Jorge opens the door for Mercedes as she steps out, followed by Jorge who looks back at the squatter before mouthing the words, "I'm watching you", complete with the gesture, which she becomes a little weirded out from, but nonetheless offers a nervous wave in return.»
«Fade.»
"A statement or event that indicates a possible or impending danger, problem, or other unpleasant situation."
That should tell you everything you need to know on what a warning is.
When I signed to CPW, my goal was pretty linear. I wanted to win the championship. I didn't want to become famous. I didn't want to earn a paycheck. I just wanted to have that title around my waist, and I was willing to hurt anybody that stood in my way. I asked myself the question of why bad things happen to good people.
Better yet, maybe you should be asking yourself that very question, Roxi. Because, ever since you've stepped foot in CPW, while your win-loss record is nice - one loss is pretty impressive - looks can be deceiving. Hey, since we're in Dallas, why don't you go to Sydney's house and ask her why she isn't on the pay-per-view in her hometown? No, better yet, ask her why she's hasn't been the same since the last pay-per-view when she was utterly embarrassed and suffered her first pinfall in CPW by yours truly?
Up until now, you've been having it easy, you're on cloud nine and ever since Canadian Chaos, I guess you can say the world is your oyster. You own a victory over me, well, two, actually, so I'm sure you're all the more confident that you can do it again, right? You beat me and all your problems are over, right? Whether on paper or inside the ring, there is no way you can lose.
I want you to keep thinking those happy thoughts, Roxi. It's the reason you've been nearly untouchable for the nearly two-and-a-half months since this place opened. I want you to think that the seed of doubt doesn't exist and where it doesn't get watered so that you walk out of this pay-per-view with the Sirens Championship. I want you to be so sure of yourself that you will be champion heading into the next month, once again proving that good always triumphs over evil.
Or whatever catchphrase is popular now these days.
I want you to think that you've beaten me, I want you to think that you got the better of me because I certainly have my doubts about that. Did you get the better of me when I dropped you on your head at the end of that tag match at CPW TV 3? Did you get the better of me in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, when I made you and Sydney look like amateurs at Canadian Chaos? Did you get the better of me at CPW TV 9? Did you get the better of me four nights ago in Kansas City when I fooled both you and your girlfriend? Did you get the better of me when I attacked Keira, when she was getting her ass kicked while you watched helplessly? Were you getting the better of me then? Were you getting the best of me then, huh, Roxi? Even when you least expected it, you expected it, and the results weren't what you expected.
Let's face it, Roxi, you've had better days, you've probably had better weeks, but these last few weeks aren't one of them. And come Sunday, it's going to continue when I beat you. I bet you thought when you became champion it would be clear skies ahead.
You thought wrong. How wrong?
Need I bring up Sydney Knite for a reference?
See, Roxi, I'm not like you. I will never be quite like you. You're an original. There's only one Roxi Johnson. And just as there is one Roxi Johnson, there is one Mercedes Vargas.
I've realized that if you can’t be an example, be a warning. The Cynthia Warrens, the Angel Kashes, the Heather Stripes', they've already experienced what it's like when you get in my way. You can't say they didn't have enough time to prepare. You can't say they could have not bothered to show up. You can't say that I didn't warn them.
When I speak, Roxi, people listen.
And if you haven't been listening yet?
Well, then, you just don’t know the meaning of a warning.
Roxi Johnson, this Sunday at Picture Perfect, you will have my undivided attention.
