I guess I should be completely ecstatic right now. I did just win the CPW Siren's title from Zelda Knite and Mercedes Vargas. But, I'm not really in the best of moods right now.
Now, honestly, Vargas and Zelda really put up one hell of a fight, and there's still a gash in the back of my head from Mercedes hitting me with the title itself, and Zelda did clip me one good time in the jaw, but I still walked out the champion. And make no mistake, I'm proud to be the champion. I'm proud to represent this company as it's Siren's champion. But now everything just changed.
Not only do I have to defend my title 10 days after winning it, I have to do it against my girlfriend. I'll be honest, when Keira challenged me, I was shocked. When CPW management decided to make this match official, I was stunned. Now, here I am, less than 24 hours away from this title defense, and honestly, I'm still as confused as I ever was. Why did Keira do this? Why did she ask for the title match now? When did this ever cross her mind? There's just so many questions, yet so few answers.
Keira, I want you to know that even though this is a highly questionable thing that you've done, I'm not really angry. I can't be mad at you for wanting this. But you are, girlfriend or not, you are trying to take something I worked really hard to get. You are already in hot water for seemingly jumping viable contenders in line, and now, what do you expect? I cannot and will not lay down for you, in a match where my title is up for grabs. I cannot and will not allow you to defeat me. It's not personal, it's just business. I don't know what the idea was, but, sadly, I'm going to have to beat you on CPW TV. It's not something I will take pleasure or enjoyment in, but it's something that must be done.
In the end, we can still be everything we already are. I don't want this to change things, but I have a feeling it might. Even so, I wish you luck Keira. I want you to bring the fight you need to bring. And when it's all over, I'll still love you, I'll still be there for you. I just can't allow you, or anyone else to take what I worked so hard for. You will not make me the shortest Siren's champion ever, Kiera. Girlfriend or not. I plan on being champion for a long time, and you, unfortunately, have to be the first person I defeat.
I wish it was different Keira, I really do. But, it was you who asked for this match. You wanted the shot. Now, out there, in the ring, you will just be another opponent. Another test for me to pass.
Whoever said no rest for the weary, sure wasn't kidding...
[Fade in on the shadow of Roxi doing something. She grunts and groans with a lot of effort, and we pulls back to see her hitting a heavy bag. Normally, she's really into it, but this effort is clearly half-hearted. Vision is on the screen behind her, watching ]
Vision - Something wrong?
Roxi - *huff* ...You could say that.
Vision - I thought you'd be happy to be champion now.
Roxi - I...*huff* did too.
Vision - What's up then?
[ Roxi angrily punches the bag. ]
Roxi - *huff* I have to...defend against Keira.
Vision - Really? Why?
Roxi - I don't know Vision! She asked for a title match as soon as I won the thing!
Vision - Okay, calm down. She never told you why?
Roxi - No...
Vision - Oh.
Roxi - She's making me crazy. Now, I have to train, or...at least try to train, for a fight against my girlfriend.
Vision - I see. Well, look on the bright side, maybe it'll just be once.
Roxi - That's not the point, Vision. She asked for a title match against me. Why would she do that?
Vision - Out of love?
Roxi - Is that love, Vision? Wanting to fight your girlfriend?
Vision - I don't know.
Roxi - Neither do I, but it sure doesn't seem like it.
Vision - Look, I understand how you feel.
Roxi - Yeah, I'll bet you do.
Vision - Really, I do. It's hard sometimes to deal with the people you care about the most.
Roxi - This is different, this isn't' protecting her, or helping her out. This is me, having to beat her in a match, with the Siren's title on the line. Now, I have to choose between hurting her, and keeping what I worked so hard for in the first place.
Vision - Life is full of difficult choices.
[ Roxi takes off her boxing gloves, and goes to put on her costume. ]
Vision - Where are you going?
Roxi - I need to clear my head.
Vision - Be careful out there...
[ Roxi, now in costume, sits on the rooftop, dangling her feet over the edge.]
Roxi - I guess Vision was right, Herman. Life is full of tough choices. But why is this so hard right now?
[ She is, of course, talking to her favorite gargoyle statue, and of course, it doesn't respond. ]
Roxi - I know. It's just that she made this really difficult for some reason. I mean, how would you feel if those other gargoyles tried something like this on you?
[ She stares at the statue, as if waiting on a response. ]
Roxi - *Sigh* You're right. They couldn't do the things you do. You always know what to say. I should just go get this over with. I don't have to like it, but I will see it through. It's my job. Thanks for listening and giving me the advice I needed. You're a really pal Herman.
[ With that, Roxi blows a kiss to the statue and swings away. ]
