I can still hear them booing.
“You Suck!”
I can still hear them crying.
“No, it wasn’t supposed to end this way!”
I can still hear them whining.
“Fergus was screwed in his hometown!”
f can still hear t hem calling me...
“You didn’t deserve to win.”
I can still hear them making excuses.
“It was a mistake”
I can still hear them justifying.
“You’re ‘technically’ world champion.”
To this... all I have to say is... To me It’s the best kind of win possible. You want to know why?
Because it’s the kind of win that hurts the most... for the man you just beat.
Think about it... what would have happened if I would have just beaten Fergus in the center of the ring? Knites of the Round and pinned him straight up or made him tap out like a baby to the Restless Knite? huh? He would have went home, reflected, maybe gotten mad at himself a little and then in the end would have come out knowing that it just wasn’t his night... maybe I was just a little better that time around, maybe he can work and get ‘em next time. He’d be shaken at first, he would have felt that there were things he could have done better, but in the end he’d know that I won fair and square and that there was nothing else he could do about it, sometimes there is just somebody better that night.
Where’s the fun in that?
No... see what happened to Fergus was far better. He thought he had won, he thought everything he worked for had finally come together and he had climbed to the top of that mountain. The victory was in his hand, there was nothing he could do better because he had beaten the unconquerable... then it was all ripped away! His still beating heart was pulled from his chest, his dreams were smashed in front of his eyes. He had given everything he had for this moment, he had worked harder than he had ever done before for this moment and in that instance it was all for naught, it all was meaningless because another man was still walking out as World champion.
How did that feel Fergus? Tell me. Really. How did that make you feel?
Hearing your home town booing like crazy, knowing that they were booing because you just couldn’t get the job done? Knowing that their hisses that their trash was thrown into the ring because you didn’t win... How does it feel being the most hated man in Boston... until Aaron Hernandez decided to execute some dude? Think about it, I didn’t do anything to cause their boos... I simply lifted my shoulder, and that’s all it took to beat you... I didn’t have to grind out a long victory where I outlasted you, I didn’t have to have an epic slugfest... I just had to lift my shoulder... off the ground.
And that’s all it took.
Now, you get to see first hand how it’s done. We get to take on the king of the choke artists in Davey Ortega and some putz that I certainly don’t care about. Oh yea, that lackluster Kevin Allen who I think I beat to advance in this tournament... although I can’t really remember because everybody I faced in that was just completely unforgettable. You can probably just sit back and watch if you like, maybe if Ortega manages to hit me with a German Suplex, I can give you an encore performance?
What’s that? Oh you were under the impression that it was a fluke? Please.
I’m the King. You think for a second I don’t know how to manipulate a situation in my favor?!
ha ha ha ha... poor drunken fool.
Don’t worry Fergus, stick with me and I’ll take you places. I already took you to a pay per view main event and give you the biggest match of your life. I already gave you the most exposure of your career, I already gave you the best single match you’ve ever had... and I think I can take you even further if you just hang out with me a little longer kiddo. Watch me in this match, follow my lead and I can bring you to even greater heights. We’ll make it past Ortega and that other guy and we will show the world just how great Fergus Callaghan is....
Maybe this time... you could muster up enough strength to roll your shoulder.
*laughs*
Maybe.
